That the 50ies were a super unique decade when it comes to fashion, is no secret anymore. It had something totally rebellious which is kind of a characteristic for this decade. Petticoats, strong hairstyles which, without any doubt, could bear up the take off of a rocket, Jeams Dean, Rock & Roll. They all dominated the western life. And what’s even more fascinating: we’re still feeling their influence in 2015.
Can you remember the time when I was in Berlin with Maybelline New York at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week? We did not only visit the Make-Up Catwalk Runway Show, but also the one of Lena Hoschek whose creations are known for being timeless and having a vintage just like feminine silhouette.
I was so impressed by her show that I’ve decided to re-interpret it in only one look. I thought that it would be a pretty cool idea if you can see this show, like, trough my eyes and re-create it. The perfect location as well played an important role while shooting it as it definitely gives my look an extra retro touch.
The background is an allusion to the „Diners“ in the US in the 50ies and 60ies. The seating areas were covered with red leather and from the jukebox you were able to hear out Elivs songs. You surely know what I mean, right? :) I knew from the very beginning that I need a checked pattern in this editorial as it reminds me of the dance floors on which the fast and funky dances were held. Gorgeous!!!
Products you need for a Retro Beauty Look
For an extra strong hold I used the KÉRASTASE den K laque noire Hairspray. Especially if you backcomb your hair it’s very important to use a long lasting and strong hairspray.
For a beautiful skin texture I’ve been using the Dream Wonder Nude Foundation von Maybelline New York. Though it has a very thin texture which feels so smooth on your skin it has a full coverage. I would say it’s ideal for normal skin. I’ve applied The FIT me! Blush in Light Pink – which is also from Maybelline New York – gently on my cheeks to make my retro beauty look more feminine and fresh.
I LOVE lipsticks. When you scroll trough my gallery you should notice it immediately. Preferably with a matt and bold texture. For this look I’ve been using the Color Sentaional Lipliner in Pleasure Me Red 547 by Maybelline New York. Did you know that you can also apply lipliner on you lips instead of a lipstick? :)
Don’t even think about forgetting the perfect eye make up which includes voluminous lashes wherefore I’ve been using the Maybelline Lash sensational Mascara in Black and an eyelid line wherefore I’ve been using a Liquid Eyeliner.
THE MATCHING PARFUM
… is absolutely needed. Sí von Giorgio Armani might be the perfect choice for this look as it is a feminine fragrance which reminds of blackcurrant nectar, airy florals and musky blond wood.
